Why So Militant

David fought so many wars. He wasn't able to build the Temple, at least one of the reasons was, the Lord said he was a bloody man! So, his son was given the assignment, Solomon. Solomon’s generation had not experienced the awfulness of war. Their responsibility would be not losing the glory of God in a season of convenience, peace and pleasure.

Passing The Baton

Have you seen a race where they pass the baton, one to another, recently? It truly amazes me to see how our little child hood games can speak to us in life, if we allow it to. In this race of passing the baton, the main objective is the team with the baton to cross the finish line with the help of each other. The one who crosses the finish line first with the baton wins. Another thing to realize, is the greatest opportunity for mishap is during the pass. It takes skill, focus and determination to successfully pass to the receiver.

Now what does that symbolize spiritually to you and me. The word of God tells us to run the race with all diligence, being prepared in all diligence. What’s symbolic of it, is a race that’s not run by ourselves, it includes others, so not only our generation but the ones to come...

What Do I Do If My Authority Is Just Wrong

Now the famine was severe in Samaria and Ahab had summoned Obadiah, his palace administrator. Obadiah was a devout believer in the Lord. While Jezebel was killing off the Lord’s prophets, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hidden them in two caves, fifty in each, and had supplied them with food and water...

The Armorbearer Stigmata

Years ago, a young lady wrote in to our ministry expressing her reservations about accepting the call to become an armorbearer for her pastors. Here’s an excerpt from that FAQ session:

“…It's not that I mind helping out with anything that's needed of me.  Whatever is asked of me, I will do without hesitation.  The biggest problem is that I don't want to be called "armorbearer".  I hesitate to use the term, whether or not I'm around anyone.  I don't want it known, I don't want it broadcast, and I don't want any recognition for what I do; unless it's from God to tell me what I'm doing right or wrong…”

Go Get My Chariots Horses And Start Me A Parade

God promised to make one of King David’s sons the next king. It was a God promise through a faithful father. Even so, there was a small problem brewing on the horizon. The Bible said the son Adonijah was never interfered with by his father. He never heard the word no from him or anyone else. The Proverbial writer plainly says a child left to himself is headed for ruin. So, I have empathy for the young man I’m about to tell you about...

The Rules Of Life And Death Are In Your Words

I call heaven and earth to record this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your children may live —Deuteronomy 30:19 para.

How many times have we said, it was just words? ‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.’ It's just not true. I heard the same child's chant growing up. I even tried to repeat it to myself when someone said something mean that really hurt. Especially, when I didn't want it to. And I wanted even less to show it...

Touch Not Gods Anointed Leadership

More than a couple of times, King Saul tried to pin David to the wall with his spear but David eluded him. David served a king with serious issues. He wasn’t just someone that he would see every now and then. He lived in the same house with his king...

The Precious Gift of Impartation

Not long ago, Varn and I were discussing some changes in our church. Most of us don't like change that much. In fact, that's what disturbs people the most and can even cause fall out. Meaning people get offended and mad at the church. They end up leaving and sometimes they stay but are still mad...

Serve Strong 8 We Are The Hedge

Years ago, I was watching a Christian television show. The host stopped, looked into the camera and said, "God says, you are His intercessor. No worries, He'll teach you what to do..." And so my journey began. He has certainly taught me what to do. As you know, in any learning experience there are successes and failures...

Serve Strong 7 Gods Protection Is In His Instructions

Millennials ago, the word of the Lord came to a young man of God saying, “Instruct the king with a rebuke. Jeroboam had built himself an altar and to foreign gods. He had caused all Israel to sin greatly before God, by demanding that they should worship there, and they did. They came all the way from Dan to worship. Well, while Jeroboam was doing his worship thing, to his foreign gods and influencing the people of God to do the same...
