Serve Strong 3 Armorbearers Called Chosen And Faithful

Serve Strong: Armorbearers Called, Chosen And Faithful

The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on one side, one on the other, so that his hands remained steady until sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekites army with the sword. Exodus 17:8-13

Are you bearing the arms of your leader? I started this conversation with the question to myself, as if I’m just becoming one. Are you an armorbearer? As I think on the question the first thought that comes to me. What do I do, or what should I be?

1. What do I do? The very basic task of an armorbearer is to be a helper. If I’m an armor bearer, I should be helping someone in leadership or your assigned leader.

2. What should I be? In response to that, as armor bearer I’m an anointed person with a calling to help, assist, tend to, protect, etc.

This new title armorbearer, the Spirit of the Lord has allowed the Body of Christ to use as a help, is a renewed word for us in the 21st century. As you may know by now, the word armorbearer came from the Greek word, Nasa which means, to help or to assist.

This title is being used to bring a fresh anointed spirit of servanthood to the Body of Christ. I see the Lord using it to help and strengthen his body of leadership and fivefold ministry in these last days.

Even so, I have noticed that everyone doesn’t agree on this ministry called armorbearer. Some even speak of it as a farce. Although, I don't agree about it being a farce; I must say that if the Church isn’t careful it (the Armorbearer function in the church) could turn out to be something that it’s not meant to be.

I hate to say it but the enemy has us fighting among ourselves more then we should be these days. But we know, that’s his job, the enemy.  I just wish that we wouldn’t allow him to succeed so much. This should not be so! In the Body of Christ we should strive to be a Body of unity.

This is why my wife and I are very careful to give the very best example by the Spirit of God when speaking or teaching about this ministry called Armorbearing. We are doing our best to keep laying a true foundation of the fruit of Christ.  We impart the spirit of servanthood everywhere we go. I personally believe as long as the Armorbearer ministry stays as it is, a Ministry of Helps; it will stay safe.

If it’s taken further then it is meant to be, the Lord may have to step in and do some ironing. So if we are wise, we won’t take it any further than the Helps ministry and servanthood in the local church.

If an armorbearer team is located in a sound church/ Body of Christ practicing the Word of God, loving the Church this will keep the ministry balanced. This is my recommendation.

I can say this; my home church, its leadership and the levels of authority structure that are set up established a very true foundation in our armorbearer ministry. At our church, its leadership made sure that the intent of the ministry was carried out correctly. Meaning it made sure the armorbearers served. That is why I love the covering of the church/ congregation.  I pray it’s the same for teams all across America and the world.

Now I know church isn’t the same everywhere. I know the armorbearer ministry may have to function with two or three different titles, naturally that’s ok. But it is very important to make sure that we stay true to the foundation of the ministry. To try to make it more than it's meant to be could be detrimental. So armorbearers stay true to God’s pattern in the Scriptures, your leadership and serve faithfully.”

As an example, I can say this because I’ve been there. I believe every armorbearer will understand what I’m saying and meaning. When the armorbearer is in that great core circle of five-fold leadership and basking in that anointing, you get stirred up week after week. If we're not careful, we can step up and prematurely say to ourselves, “Hey, I can do this.”

You know like Miriam did when she said to her brother Moses, "Hey brother, the Lord speaks to me too...” In her attitude and words, she sinned and got in trouble. As the story goes, she got leprosy because of her sin and her brother had to pray for her. That example is a bit strong; but it makes the point.

In short, we must stay in place. We must stay in our place of service and not move out of it prematurely. What I’m asking of you, I know it’s a hard thing. But if you want to do it the right way, you will submit to the process. The Lord will see you and bless you.

You see, I can teach on this because my pastor just plain would not allow it to work incorrectly. Here's a little testimony; I was ordained as a Baptist minister in '95. In later years, my wife and I joined Covenant Church. We served as armorbearers for over a decade and leaders in the ministry of helps in our local church and community.

Anyway, my point is most people in our church had no idea that I was a seasoned minister because Earma and I embraced our season of service. We didn't make a mad dash for the microphone every time it came close. No we humbled ourselves and stayed in place until our time came. After faithful service, the Lord blessed us and promoted us. So I encourage you to stay true to your call wherever you are serving until God raises you to the next level.

A little story, when our Armorbearer ministry team was just being birthed in our church we had a little hardship with it because a few didn’t think that it was a ministry. So it took some time and some birthing. Eventually, our Pastor had to stand up for the armorbearer team.

He said in a service, you know our armorbearers help me; they make ministry easier for me. So leave them be; he said it nicely.  That’s all it took. And then he said, you know it’s not like they are going to be preaching in the pulpit tomorrow. I can say it was a bit of medicine but we took it like a mature Christian would.

The question is, did you see the balancing factor in that statement? He was saying that we the armorbearers) were going to be doing what we were called to do, serve. He had the courage to say it.

Now I know some will not like that statement but all I can say is true leadership knows where their flock stands from those who are servant leaders to those who serve in the five-fold ministry. True leaders are willing to lead them correctly.

Now before I end this post, I wanted to talk to you about the title ArmorBearing and the concept Arm-Bearing. As you know from Scripture, this idea was derived from the great battle where Moses is commanded to hold the staff of God out over the battle in defeating the enemies of God, the Amalekites.

As long as the staff is held high, the Israelites were getting the victory but when Moses loses strength and the staff lowers, the enemy succeeds. So Moses brother and Priest Aaron and Levite Hur places a large stone for him to sit on. Aaron and Hur held his arms up to keep the staff held high like post and as they did the battle is won. And so it is with us, we as armorbearers hold up our leader’s arms in the battle of faith and the victories will be won. Exodus 17:8-13

This concept solidifies the true act of the Ministry of Helps which includes Armorbearers and the service it renders. You can say, “We are the lifters of the hands of our leaders.” This is what the whole ministry is all about this act of service, nothing more, nothing less meaning the basis of the ministry itself and the concept of it.

“We the Armorbearers are anointed supporters to our leadership and in this we are planting seed that we will harvest in our future ministry to come.”
