Are You Beautiful?

Are you beautiful? No, I'm not talking about whether people would say you're good-looking or homely. Physical beauty is definitely in the eyes of the beholder. I'm speaking of inner beauty or spiritual beauty. Before you answer that question, let me tell you a short story from my own life.
Years ago, I was assisting our Pastor in a new member's class. Earma and I were sitting directly behind him. It was a small service room we call Apostle's Hall with about 30 to 40 people slowly filling it up. He was waiting to go up & greet the people. Before he did he turned with moist eyes and said, "You're beautiful. You're one of the beautiful men."
Although he didn't say it, we immediately knew what he was referring to. A few years earlier, a man of God had said that God would send him beautiful men.
Prophetic word:
….Therefore, the hand of the Lord has set this as a seal. I have given you the men and I am going to add unto you men who are beautiful, men that love God, men that will cry before His presence, men that are broken and want to see God reaching these people in this hour. This generation will know it because I'm uniting men of God under your hand. This is my will. This is my power…
That was then and this now. I didn't share that with you to brag. I was just grateful to be counted among the faithful. But it brings me to the reason I told that little story; I feel led of the Holy Spirit to ask that question of you. "Are you beautiful?"
Would your leader or your pastor be able to call you beautiful? What I mean is, "Are you loyal, faithful, prompt-to-do-it (whatever your leader asks of you) and long suffering? Are you too easy to give up? Are you considered trust worthy, hard working, able to take the blame even if you did not do it (happens sometimes especially in Christian life), loving the unloving, just to name a few?"
Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bring good tiding that publish peace.
Roman 10:15 And how shall they preach except they be sent as it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things.
Both of these Scriptures are usually interpreted to be talking about salvation that is preached to the world but it also means the gospel of good news that you are bringing to your leadership; yes you must be the one with beautiful feet.
Recently, I was in a leadership meeting and the Holy Spirit asked this question of us. I say us because I was surprised myself. I asked the leaders, "When you are serving and you have to take off for whatever reason are you missed? Do your leaders or fellow team members miss you?" This is not a trick question. Ask yourself; do I serve so well that when I am gone that I am missed?
I know that we are all members of one Body of Christ and we should all be in our place. But I believe we should serve in such excellence that when we're away that we are sorely missed.
So if you are not missed you should check yourself and your service. Let this be a challenge to you. Remember, our service should be selfless, preferring each other above ourselves.
Ephesians 6:5-6 Servants be obedient to them that are your masters (leaders) according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ. 6 Not with eye service as men pleasers but as the servant of Christ, do the will of God from the heart.
So take the challenge to become faithful or stay faithful and become a beautiful man or woman of God in service to your leader.
In beautiful service,
Varn Brown
